This project centered on creating a sleek, modern mastering console that seamlessly integrated into the historic Capitol Studios environment. The goal was to design a faceplate that not only reflected the studio’s iconic mid-century modern aesthetic but also met the functional needs of professional mastering engineers.

Drawing inspiration from the architecture of the Capitol Records building and the timeless elegance of vintage studio gear, the design balances form and function. The interface is structured for clarity, with careful attention to knob placement, typography, and visual hierarchy—ensuring engineers can make precise adjustments without distraction.

One of the primary challenges was working within the strict spatial constraints dictated by both the manufacturer and the mastering team. The component layout needed to adhere to specific technical guidelines while accommodating the preferences of those who would use the console daily. Through close collaboration with the Capitol Mastering team, we refined the placement of each control to create a layout that was both efficient and aesthetically cohesive.
